NPFL: Akwa pip Plateau Utd in Eket, Enyimba thrash Kwara, Wikki Tourists, Kwara United slump, get ultimatum

After losing their opening match in the Nigeria Professional Football League ,  Akwa United  has continued to leap and bound as they defeated Plateau United by a lone goal at the Eket Township Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

James Ajako netted the winner in the Promise Keepers 1-0 win against  the Jos based team in an highly entertaining encounter watched with a capacity crowd.

It was the first match for Akwa United in Eket after their traditional home ground, the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium was unavailable due to political campign ahead of the 2023 general elections.

Akwa United are now unbeaten in their last three league games while Plateau United have recorded just one win from four games this season.

In another match, Enyimba returned to winning ways following a comprehensive 3-0 win against Kwara United in Aba on Sunday.

Adebambo Ademola added the second seven minutes later.

Obioma got his brace in the 68th minute.

Kwara United are yet to record a win in the NPFL this season.

In another match goals from Nyima Nwagua and Naibe Akpesiri made the difference as Rivers United secured their first away win of the season and moved four points clear on top of Group B standing of the Nigeria Premier Football League after beating homers Dakkada 2-1 at their backyard.

Paul Acquah’s fabulous cut back pass in the 36th minute set up Nyima Nwagua who converted from close range to draw level after Isaac George had given Dakkada  the lead in the 16th minute of the match.

The Ghanaian import Paul Acquah was a delight to watch as he crowned his five star performance by grabbing his second brilliant assist of the match setting up Naibe Akpesiri with a low cross that he converted clinically to clinch a hard-fought win.
