NPFL: Kano Pillars shoot to second place

Kano Pillars have shot to second place on the NPFL table after they pipped visiting Akwa United Football Club of Uyo in a rescheduled game, while champions Plateau United drops points at home against Wikki Tourists.
A 38th minute penalty goal and converted by Rabiu Ali gave Pillars all three points at the expense of Akwa United and they now have 31 points from 19 matches.
Plateau United were held to a 1-1 draw by Wikki Tourists in another game decided yesterday in Jos.
Emmanuel Odafe put the NPFL champions in front only for Abubakar Umar to restore parity for Wikki late on.
Goalkeeper Pius Ibrahim was Man of the Match as he pulled off several saves to deny the home the maximum points.
Plateau United remain in fourth place on 29 points from 17 games, while Wikki are 17th in the standings.
Go Round FC move out of the relegation zone after they beat MFM FC 1-0 at home.
They are now 14th on the table with 23 points.
