NPFL: Super Eagles captain, Ahmed Musa, set for debut on Kano Pillars’ return

Super Eagles star Ahmed Musa is expected to make his debut in his return to Kano Pillars.
Musa rejoined Pillars last month after featuring for European and Asian clubs. For three years from 2009, the winger wore Pillars shirts before departing to Europe.

He held the highest record for the most goals in one season in the Nigerian top-flight league until Jude Aneke of Kaduna United’s 20 goals eclipsed Musa’s in November 2011.
Pillars and bottom-placed Adamawa United settled for 1-1 in the first leg. With the former behind log leaders Akwa United by just goal difference, victory for the home side is crucial at Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna.

It’s a derby in Uyo as Akwa United are hosted by Dakkada FC. The Promise Keepers would do themselves a favour by winning to preserve their top spot, while Dakkada, in No 8, need the points to go up the ladder. Both sides settled for a goalless outcome in their earlier meeting this season.

Third-placed Kwara United welcome defending champions Plateau United to Ilorin Stadium in their quest to return to the top of the table from where they were pulled down last Matchday following their defeat by Nasarawa United in Lafia.
Kwara United had set the tone for Plateau United’s poor season with a 2-0 win in Jos on the opening day of the season.

In Enugu, Rangers will seek to revenge their lone goal defeat in Port Harcourt when they face Rivers United in the reverse fixture. The Pride of Rivers are fourth on the log, two points and a step ahead of the Flying Antelopes.
Warri Wolves, who lead the bottom four, will recall their 1-2 loss at Agege Township Stadium on Matchday 1 as MFM file out at the Warri Township Stadium.
It’s the same situation for Sunshine Stars, who are at No 18, as they host Jigawa Golden Stars, lone goal victors in the first leg.

FC IfeanyiUbah protested their banishment to Enugu by refusing to show up for their last match against MFM. The Nnewi side, who are second from the base, are expected to honour their date with Lobi Stars in Makurdi this evening.
