NPHCDA seeks parents, stakeholders’ support to end polio

National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) has called on parents and other stakeholders to support government’s effort to end polio in the country. NPHCDA Director, Disease Control and Immunisation, Dr. Dorathy Nwodo, made the call during the African Vaccination Week walk and community outreach services, with the term: Vaccine Works, Be An Immunisation Champion at the weekend in Abuja.
The Vaccination Week walk, which started from NPHCDA headquarters and ended at the Eagle Square, organised by the agency in collaboration with Rotary International and other development partners, with the aim of sensitizing the general public on the need for proper routine immunisation against the child-killer disease.
Nwodo, in her remarks, expressed optimism that with adequate commitment of parents, religious leaders and other stakeholders, total eradication of polio would be achieved. Also speaking, the National Coordinator, Rotary International Polio-plus, Ambassador Aminu Mohammed, reiterated the commitment of the organisation in fighting the scourge. According to him, Nigeria has attained 33 per cent in the fight of polio and with more collaborative efforts, total eradication will be achieved. Other developmental partners including WHO, UNICEF, took turn to present their goodwill messages.
