Kano Pillars and Katsina United have successfully secured promotion back to the Nigeria Premier League (NPL) after a strong performance in the Northern Conference of the Nigeria National League (NNL) Super 8 playoff held at the Stephen Keshi Stadiuk, Asaba, Delta state.
Both teams had suffered relegation from the top-flight league in the previous season but managed to bounce back with determination and skill.
The confirmation of Katsina United’s promotion came after a thrilling encounter against Kano Pillars in the NNL Super Eight playoffs held at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba. The match ended with a tight scoreline of 1-0 in favor of Katsina United. Victor Mbaoma, a former Enyimba forward, proved to be the hero of the day, netting the winning goal in the 59th minute. This crucial victory ensured their promotion to the NPL.
In the Southern Conference, Sporting Lagos and Heartland of Owerri will be campaigning in the elite division next year.
