NPL: Tornadoes on rampage to Yola

Niger Tornadoes FC of Minna will resume their Nigeria Premier League promotion pursuit on Wednesday as they travel to Yola to confront Adamawa United FC of Yola in week 19 of Nigeria National League, (NNL).
The Minna side had on Thursday lost gallantly to the defending champions of the Federation Cup title holders, Enyimba FC of Aba 7 – 6 via penalty-shoot after a 1-1 draw at regulation time at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City.
Media officer of Tornadoes FC, George Daniya, said that the club had put behind the defeat and now was focused on regaining promotion back to the NPL.

‘‘Our attention now has shifted to getting promotion to the NPL; we know we can do it and we are not deterred with the stiff challenge involved.
Tornadoes will go into the Yola’s match 3rd on the log of Group A of the NNL with 29 points behind Kwara United and Wiki Tourists of Bauchi who have 30 and 35 points, respectively.
‘‘We have the strong belief we can do it; we trust that our boys can deliver,’’ he assured.
Daniya said that Tornadoes’ display at Benin would serve as a catalyst that would propel the Godwin Uwua-led team to ensure that they secure the remaining points and get them promoted.

He added that the soccer loving enthusiasts enjoyed free flowing football and could hardly distinguish which of the team was in NPL or NNL.
Tornadoes opened the scores in the 12th minute of the game through Bolaji Adeyemo with assist from Samson Adeleye. However, in the 34th minute Enyimba were awarded a penalty which was converted to give the defending champ the equalizer that forced the game to end in a 1-1 draw at regulation time.
Enyimba finally won the game after sudden death of penalty shoot-out after each team had taken five kicks penalties each.
