Members of the Nigeria Referees Association, NRA, involved in the officiating of the Nigeria National League, NNL, have been charged to be fair and firm in the course of discharging their duties with the new NNL season ,which commences on Wednesday in all the centers across the country
President of the Association, Otunba Tade Azeez admonished appointed match officials to be of good conduct and justify reasons why they were found worthy to be on the appointed list for the games.
Speaking on the expected conduct of referees for the season, Otunba Tade Azeez asked the NNL referees to emulate those of the premier league cadre who have so far raised the bar in the on-going season.
He warned that no form of misconduct and mediocrity shall be tolerated as instant sanction awaits those found wanting in any unbecoming act not in tandem with expected engagement rules.
According to Tade, a Code of Conduct have been released to councils to arm referees on the dos and don’t expected of them before, during and after the match.
He however pleaded with other stakeholders and supporters to provide the needed conducive environment for good officiating to thrive.
The Referees’ president warned that similar to what is applicable in the NPFL, the NRA won’t step into venues where NRA members are attacked this season, adding that the association will adopt zero tolerance to issues related to insecurity.
