…NSCDC assures residents of safety

Residents of Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have been assured of their safety, even as they go about celebrating the successful crossover into the New Year, 2018.
They are implored to fully participate in the celebrations, having nothing to worry about as measures have been taken to safeguard lives and property within the nation’s capital city and its environs.
This assurance was given by the FCT Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), during a chat with newsmen in Abuja at the weekend.
The Corps reiterated that it is working together to in collaboration with other security agencies to ensure safe and peaceful celebrations across the territory.
According to the commandant in charge of the FCT Command, Patrick Ukpan, throughout the yuletide period, security was beefed up in order to facilitate hitch-free celebrations, reiterating that the NSCDC alone deployed 3,000 personnel to critical places in the FCT so as to enhance adequate security.
He equally revealed that the corps has increased its patrols and surveillance around places like worship centres, parks and recreation centres; including Kaduna, Kogi road, Nasarawa and Niger expressways amongst several other places.
Ukpan further stressed that the command’s armed squad are on the alert to provide extra security, saying disaster and emergency units were also on standby to provide first hand assistance and to respond aptly in case of emergencies.
He added that the populace should support security agencies, by reporting every unusual and suspected act or individual to them for necessary action.
