NSCDC contract: Frivolous allegations against CG’ll fizzle out – Group

The Civil Society Organisation for Good Governance (CSGGG), a coalition of 180 civil society groups, Tuesday condemned allegations made against the leadership of the Nigeria Security Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), describing it as “unrealistic and lacking objectivity.”

President of the group, Comrade Ogakwu Dominic, in his address to newsmen, said the action is “a malicious attempt to tarnish the good image of the corps under the leadership of Commandant General Abdullahi Gana Muhammadu.”

He said such allegations were campaigns of calumny to distract a performing leader.

Dominic stated that contrary to the falsehood, Muhammadu is a core professional who has carved a niche for himself in the field of criminal justice and an expert who has ensured that the corps acquires a height that singles it out among other agencies.

He said: “The allegation made by a certain biased CSO against the leadership of the NSCDC after due investigations and findings proves to be untrue and unsubstantiated. We are hopeful that those involved would refrain from further campaign of calumny.”

“Instead of condemning a man of honour, commend him for licensing 285 companies, sealing 96 and renewing 600. Also, commend him for ensuring that all activities of the corps are carried out with utmost sense of professionalism.

“We advise that the group  and the media adhere to due process by going to the corps to seek clarifications on any disparity, instead of sitting on a fence casting aspersions and bring to mud the good reputation of performing leaders,” the group stated.
