NSCDC intercepts 23,600 litres of adulterated fuel in Ondo 

The operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Ondo state during the week intercepted four boats loaded with 118 kegs of adulterated diesel in Iju-Osun in Irele local government area of the state.

Eleven persons, including a pregnant woman and two teenagers, were arrested along with the product totaling 23,600 liters.

The petroleum product was loaded by the suspects in nylons.

One of the suspects is a pregnant woman, while two are minors who were not paraded before journalists.

Items recovered from the suspects include 4 boats, loaded with 118 kegs, totalling about 23,600 litres of adulterated petroleum product.

Also recovered from the suspects were five speed boat engines.

Parading the suspects before journalists in Akure, the NSCDC commandant, Hammed Abodunrin, said the suspects could not give proper information about their destination.

“The suspects were caught in the act moving the petroleum products to an unknown destination.

“They were caught in the act. It is sad that some people have continued to sabotage government and we will not tolerate this,’ he stated.

He said the suspects will be charged to court to serve as deterrent to others.
