NSCDC nabs car dealer for impersonation, 7 others

Kogi state command of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), yesterday, said it had arrested a car smuggler operating on Nigeria-Benin Republic border, Bartholomew Paul, over impersonation as an Army officer.
The command said its officers also arrested six others for allegedly vandalising electric cables and illegal possession of arms.
The NSCDC Commandant in charge of Kogi state, Everitus Obiyo, disclosed this while parading the suspects at headquarters of the command in Lokoja.
He said Paul was arrested by the men of the Nigerian Army at a checkpoint in Ayere, Ijumu Local Government Area of the state.
He said the suspects were arrested with a Lexus RX300 SUV, full military uniform, two passport photographs, dependant military identity cards.
According to the commandant, the accused had been using the military uniforms and the identity card to pose as an army officer before he was eventually caught.
Obiyo also said three suspects, Hafiz Umar, Faruk Ibrahim and Oseni Yau, were arrested over their involvement in vandalism and illegal dealing on telecommunication underground cable and destruction of the road.
He said they were apprehended in Ijumu local government with cables and copper wire suspected to have been removed from PHCN installation.
He added that two other suspects Adama Asuba and Gideon Isaac were arrested for vandalism of and illegal dealing on transformer armoured cable.
