NSCDC parades 4 suspected oil thieves in Bayelsa

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Bayelsa state Command, said it has arrested four suspected oil thieves, a truck load of 15,000 litres of suspected adulterated fuel, a Toyota car loaded with adulterated diesel among others.

Speaking with journalists at the command’s headquarter in Yenagoa on Friday while parading the suspects, Commandant Phillip Ayuba, confirmed that men of the command during a normal routine made some arrest.

He said a truck full of adulterated AGO was arrested while the driver on sighting the men ran away and left the truck, adding that there are ongoing investigations to locate them and possibly prosecute the suspected criminals if found wanting.

He added that two men were arrested on the waterways along Mbiama community with a local Cotonou boat carrying suspected adulterated AGO.

“The product is suspected to be illegally refined products stolen or either vandalised. The military also handed adulterated AGO with Toyota corolla loaded with adulterated products. “

One of the suspect, who claimed to be a bar and restaurant operator,​ from Edo state, Mr. Jeff Akere, said he went to Aleibiri to get diesel for his generator use but was arrested and brought to the NSCDC headquarters.

“I use it for generator, I have to buy plenty because filling stations are  selling at high cost,  I am not a dealer,” he said.
