NSCDC seeks military pact to end oil theft, vandalism

Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has appealed for a stronger collaboration between it and the Nigeria Armed Forces towards putting an end to the activities of oil thieves and vandals.
A statement issued by the spokesman of the Corps quoted the Commandant General, Dr. Ade Abolurin, as having made the appeal when he paid a courtesy call on service chiefs to congratulate them on their appointments and also chart the way forward in tackling the nation’s security challenges.
The statement said: “The call for a stronger collaboration aimed at putting an end to the illicit business and nefarious acts by saboteurs of the nation’s economy became imperative, considering the daily loss of gross domestic product (GDP) and the national income (NI) which in turn has brought untold hardship to the people.”
It added: “Nigerians can only appreciate the efforts of security operatives when all the agencies, irrespective of service, can come together to fight a common battle of making life more meaningful for the populace.”
The service chiefs in their separate responses gave the assurance of their total support in stamping out vandalism and oil theft.
Chief of Army Staff, Maj. General Kenneth Minimah, acknowledged the role and contributions of the Corps personnel serving with the Joint Task Force (JTF) in the Niger Delta and other Special Task Forces across the country in curbing insecurity.
In his remarks, Chief of Air Staff, AVM Adesola Amosu, and the Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Usman Jubril, emphasised the importance of cordial relationship between the Corps and the Military, promising their total support in making the country more secured.
