NSCDC to eliminate gender parity soon – CG Audi

In a bid to create equal opportunities in the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) has promised to eliminate in no distance time inequalities in the distribution of responsibilities and decision making in all areas and at all levels.

The NSCDC boss, Ahmed Abubakar Audi, has however, launched jts gender policy document in Abuja.

At the launching, the Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, said women were suited for any assignments than men and will deliver efficiency on an assignment when given the needed resources.

Aregbesola maintained that the policy will helped he women to be relevant in the service of the nation. He therefore urged the Commandant General to do better in women inclusiveness for better to curtail the recent upsurge of insecurity in the country.

The Commandant General of NSCDC stressed the need to eliminate gender inequalities while addressing the gender statistical data in the corps which appeared to be tilted in favor of the male which portrayed an unequal distribution of roles and responsibilities.

Audi said the NSCDC gender policy was consistent with international, regional and national obligations towards gender mainstreaming and gender equality, particularly the national gender policy of the government which outlines strategies for addressing violence against women and gender based violence with the main objectives of promoting equal advancement of women and men in all sectors.

While creating equal opportunities for women and men in decision making in all areas and at all levels.

The Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Paulen Talen, commended the NSCDC for taken step to actualize the call for gender mainstreaming in the country.

She therefore She advocated that the policy should keep in view the challenges that militate against women emancipation, adding that gender stereotype against women was a potential threat to their advancement in the military.
