NSE advocates Grade Level 09 entry point for engineers in Civil Service

Nigeria Society of Engineers (NSE), has called on Ekiti state government to adopt the appointment of professional engineers in the state civil service into Grade Level 09.

The engineering regulatory body said the profession must be allowed to enjoy the privileges that had been extended to Medical and Law profession in order to motivate those in the sector.

The Chairman of the Ado-Ekiti Branch of the regulatory body, Engr. Olumide Ogundipe, said this on Tuesday when he visited the Commissioner for Public Utilities, Engr. Bamiele Faparusi at his office at the State Secretariat.

The body expressed its readiness to collaborate with the government in whichever area the government might need their professional expertise.

He canvassed the support of the government in the training and re-training of members to keep them abreast of contemporary trends in the field of engineering noting that the engineering profession was unique as it evolves with time.

” I Solicit for the implementation of the approved entry point of Grade Level 09 Step 4 for qualified engineers into the civil service which was yet to be implemented in Ekiti State

“Other professional like Lawyers an medical doctors are placed on Level 10, so why can’t we enjoy same in engineering profession”.

The Commissioner for Public Utilities, Engr. Bamidele Faparusi, urged NSE to justify their existence in the Ekiti state by finding a way of contributing their own quota to the development of the state.

While appreciating the body for recognizing his contribution to NSE, the Commissioner assured that “the state government was ready to collaborate and assist the body. But we charge the technical committee of NSE to look into the power sector of the state and proffer plausible solution as their own contribution to development and governance of the state”‘ he said.
