NSE: Bulls return as equity market gains N194bn

Transactions on the floor of Nigerian Stock Exchange on Tuesday closed northward following gain recorded by capitalised companies, appreciating by N194 billion.

Market capitalisation of listed equities increased by 1.43 per cent to N13.716 trillion from N13.522 trillion reported the previous day.

The NSE All Share Index also increased by 336.18 basis points to 28144.87 points from 27808.69 points traded on Monday.

Investors traded 135.183 million shares valued at N2.092 billion in 3358 deals against 285.762 million shares worth N2.244 billion in 3887 deals

An analysis of the investment showed that Nestle Nigeria Plc led gainers table during the day, improving by N67.00 to close at N1327.00, Dangote Cement Industry followed with a gain of N4.00 to close at N174.00, Wapco Plc advanced by N1.30 kobo to close at N14.40 kobo. MTN Nigeria Communications Plc added N1.00 to close at N127.00, Cadbury Nigeria Plc gained N0.55 kobo to close at N11.35 kobo.

Forte Oil Plc on the other hand recorded the highest loss for the day, dropping by N2.00 to close at N18.15 kobo, International   Breweries trailed with a loss of N1.50 kobo to close at N13.80 kobo, Dangote Sugar Refinery Plc down by N0.45 kobo to close at N10.80 kobo, Glaxosmith Kline sheds N0.30 kobo to close at N8.00, United Bank for Africa fell by N0.25 kobo to close at N5.70 kobo.

The result also indicated that Guaranty Trust Bank was the toast of investors, accounting for 15.654 million shares valued at N453.434 million, Zenith Bank Plc followed with account of 12.570 million shares worth N233.726 million , Wapco traded 12.158 million shares cost N172.799 million, Sterling Bank sold 11.991 million shares worth N36.911 million while Wapic Insurance exchanged 7.434 million shares worth N2.833 million.
