NSE: Equity market gains N19bn

Trading activities on the floor of Nigerian Stock Exchange on Monday opened week on a positive note, increasing by N19 billion.

Specifically, market capitalisation of listed equities increased by 0.14 per cent to N13.410 trillion from N13.391 trillion reported on Friday.

The NSE All Share Index also rose by 39.28 basis points  to 27565.09 points from 27525.81 traded the previous day.  

Investors traded 111.515 million shares worth N1.560 billion in 3122 deals against 124.782 million shares valued at N1.815 billion exchanged hands the previous day in 3089 deals.

A review of transactions during the day showed that Nestle Nigeria Plc led gainers table during the day appreciating by N74.00 to close at N1319.00, Cement Company of Northern Nigeria followed with a gain of  N1.55 kobo to close at N17.40 kobo, Unilever Nigeria Plc gained N0.95 kobo to close at N29.45 kobo, Zenith Bank appreciated by N0.35 kobo to close at N17.55 kobo, United Bank of Africa (UBA) grew by N0.35 kobo to close at N6.20 kobo.

On the contrary, MTN Nigeria Plc recorded the highest loss during the day, failing by N2.50 kobo to close at N138.50 kobo, Dangote Cement trailed with a loss of N2.00 to close at N160.00, Dangote Sugar down by N0.50 kobo to close at N8.50 kobo UAC of Nigeria declined by N0.50 kobo to close at N4.50 kobo while Africa Prudential Plc depreciated by N0.37 kobo to close at N3.63 kobo.

The NSE trading result further showed that Zenith Bank Plc was the most active stock during the day, trading 16.149 million shares worth N283.900 million, United Bank for Africa followed with account of 13.952 million shares cost N86.039 million, FBNHoldings traded 13.639 million shares valued at N64.803 million, UACN sold a total of 7.796 million shares valued at N35.912 million while Guaranty Trust Bank exchanged 5.151 million shares cost N141.077 million.
