NSE: Equity market gains N6bn

Trading activities on the flour of Nigerian Stock Exchange on Thursday closed northward following gain recorded by MTN Nigeria  Communications Plc as the market gained N6 billion.

MTN Nigeria Plc led gainers table, appreciating by N4.20 kobo, Cement Company of Northern Nigeria followed with a gain of N0.45 kobo to close at N14.00, Dangote Sugar Refinery appreciated by N0.30 kobo to close at N10.10 kobo, Dangote Flour Nigeria Plc gained N0.25 kobo to close at N20.60 kobo, Mansard added N0.15 kobo to close at N1.80 kobo.

On the contrary, Guinness Nigeria Plc recorded the highest loss at the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE),  failing by N4.60 kobo to N41.40 kobo, Forte Oil Plc trailed with a loss of N1.50 kobo to close at N16.80 kobo, Zenith Bank Plc fell by N0.95 kobo to close at N16.80 kobo, Guaranty Trust Bank down by N0.80 kobo to close at N26.90 kobo while Africa Prudential Plc declined by N0.38 kobo to close at N3.42 kobo.

The NSE trading result during the day showed that market capitalisation of listed equities increased by 0.5 per cent to N13.364 trillion from N13.358 trillion traded the previous day.

The NSE All Share Index also grew to 27424.92 points from 27412.13 million reported on Wednesday.

Investors traded 279.633 million shares valued at N2.682 billion in 3498 deals against 128.955 million shares worth N1.181 billion in 3118 deals.

The analysis of the transaction indicated that FBNHoldings was the toast of investors during day, accounting for 58.931 million shares worth N295.851 million, Zenith Bank Plc followed with account of 39.044 million shares cost N664.637 million, Access Bank traded 38.304 million shares valued at N233.624 million, Guaranty Trust Bank exchanged 29.772 million shares worth N804.632 million while UAC Property sold a total of 20.070 million shares valued at N22.482 million.……………
