NSE: Equity market sheds N54bn

Trading activities on the floor of Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) on Monday opened on bearish trend, shedding N54 billion.

Specifically, market capitalisation of listed equities declined by 0.39 per cent to N13.552 trillion from N13.606 trillion reported the previous day.

The NSE All Share Index also decreased by 110.81 basis points to 27808.69 points from 27919.50 points traded previously.

Investors traded 285.762 million shares worth N2.244 billion in 3887 deals against 274.206 million shares valued at N2.844 billion in 2966 deals.

An analysis of the transactions on Monday showed that Nestle Nigeria Plc led gainers table, gaining N10.00 to close at N1260.00, United Bank for Africa followed with a gain of N0.45 kobo to close at N5.95 kobo, Africa Prudential gained N0.30 kobo to close at N37.00, PZ Cusson Plc appreciated by N0.20 kobo to close at N6.00, UAC of Nigeria  added N0.20 kobo to close at N5.60 kobo

On the contrary, Nigerian Breweries topped losers chart, dropping by N2.90 kobo to close at N56.10 kobo, MTN Nigeria Communications trailed with a loss of N2.00 to close at N126.00, Nascon down by N1.50 kobo to close at N13.50 kobo, C and I Leasing depreciated by N0.40 kobo to close at N4.55 kobo, Flour Mills Nigeria Plc dipped by N0.40 kobo to close at N14.00

The result further that Courtville Business Solutions recorded the highest loss during the day, trading 49.787 million shares worth N9.972 million, Sterling Bank Plc followed with account of 46.020 million shares cost N104.465 million, United Bank for Africa traded 33.840 million shares valued at N191.656 million, Transnational Corporation of Nigeria traded 31.131 million shares cost N30.253 million while Zenith Bank Plc exchanged 16.014 million shares valued at N259.802 million.
