NSE: Nestle leads as market gains N147bn

Investment in the nation’s equity market Thursday closed northwards, increasing by N147 billion.

Specifically market capitalisation of listed equities increased by 1.07 per cent to N13.864 trillion from N13.717 trillion reported on Wednesday. 

The NSE All Share Index appreciated by 332.36 basis points to 31477.51 points from 31145.15 points traded the previous day. Investors traded  559.764 million shares valued at N8.680 billion in 6042 deals against 294.572 million shares worth N17.468 billion in 4835 deals.

Nestle Nigeria Plc took positive trend leading gsiners table during the day, appreciating by N45.00 to close at N1365.00, Betaglass followed with a gain of N5.30 kobo to close at N75.00, Mobil Plc added N5.00 to close at N175.00, MTN Nigeria advanced by N4.15 kobo to close at N149.00 while Dangote Cement industry added N2.00 to close at N205.00. 

On the contrary, Flour Mills Nigeria PLC recorded the highest loss dropping N1.10 to close at N144.00, Nascon trailed with  a loss of N0.95 kobo to close at N15.95 kobo, Dangote Flour Nigeria plc declined by N0.50 kobo to close at N15.95 kobo,

Glaxosmith Kline down by N0.45 kobo to close at N8.50 kobo while Zenith Bank depreciated by N0.20 kobo to close at N18.80 kobo.

Sovereign Trust Insurance was investors delight for the day, accounting for 280.755 million shares valued at N64.602 million, United Bank for Africa followed with account of 44.424 million worth N256.508 million, MTN Nigeria sold a total of 34.226 million shares valued at N5.238 billion, Zenith Bank traded 33.493 million shares cost N630.729 million while Transnational Corporation of Nigeria exchanged 17.427 million shares worth N19.869 million.
