NSE promises professionalism, installs new ‘sheriff’ in Awka

The newly installed chairman of Nigeria Society of Engineers, NSE, Awka branch, Engr Martin Agbili has vowed to promote professionalism and synergy between the engineers and the government in Anambra State.

Agbili, who spoke in Awka, the Anambra State capital, after taking over the mantle of leadership for the next three years, said the professional body would improve on its relationship with the state government, ministries, associations, residents and other key players in the field of engineering with a view to building a better society.

The new sheriff, who doubles as the state Fire Chief/Director, commended his predecessor over his numerous achievements in office, and solicited for members support in order to continue, consolidate and achieve more during his tenure.

Earlier speaking, the outgone chairman, NSE, Awka branch, Edmond Nkalu, said he kept all the promises especially he made on assuming duty in 2016, among which were facilitating the moving of entry grade level of engineers from grade level 8 to grade level 9, inducted 200 engineers and facilitated their employment into service.

Nkalu also maintained that his administration engaged in public enlightenment, altruistic acts and acquiring a ten square meter of land for the building of an engineering village in the state.

The Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano, represented by Barr. Harry Udu, state head of service, urged the engineers not to hesitate to call the government attention to any aspect of the state infrastructure which they believe requires improvement.At least 33 new engineers were inducted into the society and several awards of excellence presented at the ceremony.
