NSIP: FG distributes working tools to 248 independent monitors in Adamawa

To ensure effective implementation of the federal government’s National Social Investment Programme in Adamawa state (NSIP), Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Hajiya Umar Farouk has inaugurated and presented working tools to 248 independent monitors in the state.

Speaking at the event in Yola, the minister, who was represented by the national coordinator of the programme, Dr. Umar Bindir said they are expected to monitor NSIP activities in all the 21 local government areas of the state and that the tools were to assist them in the effective performance of their responsibilities.

She warned them against engaging themselves in any shoddy deals, stressing that anyone caught sabotaging government’s efforts and goals of the programme would be taken to EFCC and ICPC.

According to her, the programme is designed in line with President Muhammadu Buhari’s promise to lift 10 million Nigerians out of poverty in the next 10 years, saying anything that would truncate this effort would not be tolerated.

The minister further noted that, the monitors are expected to establish that the children are being fed an also confirmed that the cooks are diligent as well as ensure that the N-power beneficiaries are on their duty posts in schools or health facilities among other things.

Also speaking, Adamawa state focal person for NSIP, Mary Yuwadi said168, 692 pupils in 1,047 primary schools in the state, including 2,400 vendors had so far benefitted from the programme in the state.
