NSUK Staff school graduates 80 pupils

Nasarawa State University Keffi (NSUK) Demonstration Staff School has graduated 80 pupils during its seventh graduation ceremony,

Delivering her welcome address, the headmistress of the school, Mrs Maryam Aruwa, disclosed that 60 pupils were from primary school and 20 from nursery.

Mrs aruwa stressed that under her stewardship, the school has recorded tremendous achievements in academic and sporting competitions.

She however frowned at the parents attitude of bringing their children to school at odd hour, which she said is capable of imposing security threat both on the child and school management. She therefore appealed to parents to redouble efforts and avoid bringing their children to school late.

“Parents should try and avoid bringing their children to school late because pupils may miss important lessons such as Mathematics and English Language,” she said.

Similarly, the PTA chairman and director Information Communication Technology (ICT) of the institution, Dr Yahaya Muhammed, expressed gratitude to teachers and parents for making the graduation possible, and urged parents never to register their children in  miracle centres to earn results they cannot defend during SSCE.

Yahaya said miracle centres destroy the nation’s education and the mind of the child, as they encourage examination fraud that translate to corruption later in the life of the child.

Also, Director of Academic Planning, NSUK,  Professor Haruna Ayuba, said the major problem of education is at the early stages, and urged government not to relent in encouraging parents to enroll their children in school as the number of out-of-school children is still large.
