NTBLTC’s principal escapes abduction as gunmen attack, kidnap 7 staff in Kaduna


The Principal of National Tuberculosis and Leprosy Training Centre (NTBLTC) Zaria in zaria Local Government of Kaduna state, Dr Shehu Labaran, has escaped being kidnapped by gunmen who stormmed the School’s Staff Quaters at 11.30pm on Saturday.


Our Correspondent reports that the gunmen succeeded in kidnapping 7 Staff of the school.

Those kidnapped include 2 men and 5 women in an incident that lasted for almost 2 hours.


Speaking with Blueprint in Zaria on Sunday the school Chief Security Officer, Mallam Shuraihu Ahmed said that the gunmen vandalized the School principal’s house but fortunately he was not in the house at the time they stormmed the quarter.


He pointed out that the gunmen thought that he would sleep in the house because he was in his office up to 6.30 pm on the fateful day.


The CSO further stated that the dreaded gunmen also destroyed the wall fence of Police Divisional Headquarters saye, which is attached to the School’s wall fence with several gunshots.

Blueprint was reliably informed that the Police had to take cover as the gunmen out numbered them and could not get reinforcement in time.


A resident of the area, Alhaji Manu Mai Albasa, told Blueprint that the gunmen mounted roadblocks on all roads linking the School area and other communities.


He noted that the gunmen also destroyed the police operational vehicle and flew the area with the victims through rafin Yashi road.


When contacted, the Kaduna state Police Command Spokesman, ASP Mohammed Jalige, could not confirm the development.
