NTF set for congress as Taekwondo Athletes step up preparation ahead AYG

 

All is now set for an all important annual congress of the Nigeria Taekwondo Federation (NTF) scheduled for Saturday inside prestigious Abuja National stadium.

The current country’s taekwondo leadership, which was inaugurated barely two months after last year’s National Sports Federation election in June, has been one of the busiest federation in terms of sporting activities with the introduction of first ever Nigeria Open in December, less than five months in office.

Talking about the readiness of the federation ahead of the proposed congress, Technical Director, Engr. Chika Chukwumerije disclosed that already a board meeting preceding the annual meeting, which held on Friday, was aimed at harmonising issues before entire taekwondo stakeholders further discussions.

Chukwumwrije also hinted that deeper conversation on proposed constitution for the federation would be rounded-off after December deliberations put its passage one foot finality.

According to the 2008 Beijing Olympic medallist, “Adequate contacts have been made and all Sports Directors and Stakeholders have been briefed. They have also assured of their readiness to attend after reminders got to them severally from our secretariat.

“We are solidly on course in making sure that we deliver on our promises.”

Meanwhile, no fewer than 15 taekwondo Athletes currently in camp have intensified preparations ahead of next month’s African Youth Games (AYG) in Algeria.

After physical body building when training began two weeks ago, tactical build-up using latest taekwondo gadgets has already begun at the indoor hall, package B of Abuja National stadium with the NTF insisting that only eligible players in age and performance will make the final cut.
