NTIC offers scholarship to 114 pupils

Nigerian Turkish International Colleges, in collaboration with the National Mathematical Center, has awarded scholarship worth N48 million to 114 students, who excelled in  its Annual National Mathematics Competition for primary 5 and 6 pupils.

Spokesperson for the school’s owners, First Surat Group of Companies, Mr. Cemal Yigit, revealed this in a statement.

Yigit said: “This unique competition, which was concluded on 1st of March 2014, at Nigerian Turkish Nile University Conference Hall, was filled with children full of hope and promise for Nigeria. The winners emerged from the exam conducted in all 36 states of the Federation and FCT.

“The first position out of 28,400 pupils with 97.988% was a bright girl from Bereton Montessori Primary school Rivers state, Adaora Nnadi. Adaora was presented a cheque of N100,000 by the special guest (at the event), Ambassador of Cameroon, Mr. Salaheddine Abbas Ibrahima.

“Sashe Ojuba from Corona school Lagos, also a girl came 2nd with 96.742 %. Third position was a tie between Mitchelle Adaeze Okoli of Mount Olive School Anambra and O. Oluwadara Olawoye of Childs Play Mini School of Oyo state both with 95.065%. The top best were clearly dominated by female pupils.”

He said the NTIC also offered scholarship awards to the winners, including 14 students, who were offered 100 per cent scholarship with feeding and boarding.
He said six students were given 100 per cent scholarship in tuition fee, whiule 91 others were awarded 50 per cent scholarship in tuition fee.
