NUC ranks FUTO top on open education resources

Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO) has been declared the best in Open Education Resources ranking by National Universities Commission (NUC).
This disclosure was made by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Francis Chukwuemeka Eze, during a pre-convocation press briefing of the institution.
He also said that the result of the 2017 NUC accreditation showed that all the eight programmes recorded full accreditation status.
Eze, who would be conducting the university’s 30th convocation ceremony this weekend, said FUTO was developing a new School of Computing Information and Communication Technology that would house programmes like Information Technology, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications Science and Electronics and had concluded arrangement for the creation of Department of Forensic Science and Cybersecurity.
In agriculture, he disclosed that FUTO had made appreciable progress in revolutionising agriculture in the university, adding that 30 hectres of cassava farm had been cultivated.
Others are10 hectres of pineapple farm, 10 hectres of plantain farm, four hectres of orange farm, two hectres of paw-paw farm, three hectres of oil palm seedlings and seven hectres of raffia palm seedlings plantations.
He assured that FUTO would add value to the produce from these farms through processing and packaging.
