NUJ Asaba lauds Okowa over appointment of its members

The Asaba Correspondents Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has lauded Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta state for the appointment of its members.

The chapel’s appreciation was conveyed in a congratulatory message to the appointees which was signed by its Chairman, Mr Paul Osuyi and Secretary, Mr Dominic Adewole.

The NUJ felicitated with Mr Jackson Ekwugum who retained his position as manager, communications and Mr Olisa Ifeajika of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), a former chairman of the chapel and veteran journalist as chief press secretary to the governor.

It also felicitated with another former chapel chairman, Mr Victor Efeizomor and another senior member of the chapel, Mr Ameachi Udemba, and Mr Nelson Egware who were retained as governor’s special assistants.

The chapel commended the governor for looking inwards, describing the appointees as round pegs in round holes.

The statement read in part:”The appointments are well deserved considering the fact that these are tested journalists with track records of professional performance on the job.

“The chapel is very confident that the appointees will bring their enormous wealth of experience to bear on their new assignments, and contribute handsomely to the actualisation of the ‘Stronger Delta’ vision of the governor.

“The appointments were based on merit as the governor is known to be very meticulous.”
