Contrary to the report making the rounds that the President, Nigeria Union of Journalists, (NUJ), Comrade Chris Isiguzo, contested and won election with forged results, the Federal Polytechnic Oko, Anambra state has confirmed that he (isiguzo) indeed graduated from the institution.

The institution also declared as genuine the national diploma certificate presented to the screening committee before the union’s national delegate conference in Abeokuta, Ogun state where Isiguzo defeated Odusile to emerge NUJ’s president.

Mr Petrus Obi, the alleged promoter of the fake news, in dare need of an alibi, had written to the instruction to confirm the national diploma certificate presented by Isiguzo to the screening committee set up by ex president of NUJ, Waheed Odusile, before the National Delegate Conference in Abeokuta, Ogun state.

But in response to Obi’s letter, on behalf of the Registrar Federal Polytechnic Oko, Ofulume Chike Esq, said Isiguzo graduated with a national diploma in the department  of Mass Communication.

NUJ vice president (zone c), Mr Petrus Obi, using his office had written to know whether the notification of result presented by Isiguzo at the election emanated from the institution.

Part of the letter read: “The NUJ South East Zone C of which he (Isiguzo) belongs as a member is desirous of investigating the said certificate and hereby attaches the already submitted notification of result for your confirmation and certification (See the notification of result as attached).”

Responding, the office of the Registrar, Federal Polytechnic Oko in a letter entitled: “Confirmation of Notificationof Result in Respect of One Mr Chris Isiguzo Ikechukwu,” stated:
“We refer to your letter dated 20th July 2019 and write to confirm that the national Diploma Notification of result in Mass Communication with CGPA 2.86 (Lower Credit) issued December, 1998 in respect of the above named person is genuine.”

Both Individuals (Waheed and Ngozi Agbo) had attached Isiguzo’s confirmed result as alibi in their suits filed at the National Industrial Court at Enugu and Abuja respectively, a move many said defiled logic.

While Odusile had approached the National Industrial Court Abuja to declare him winner of the last year’s October National Delegate Conference of NUJ, Agbo also prayed the same court (Enugu division) to disqualify Isiguzo for non qualification and swear in the runners up in the election.
