NUJ pledges partnership with Zamfara govt

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Zamfara state correspondents chapel, has promised to partner with the state government in publicising its policies and programmes for the development of the state.

Chairman of the chapel, Umar Muhammad Maradun, made the pledge when members of the chapel paid a courtesy call on the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Bala Bello Maru, in his office Thursday.

Muhammad said they were in the SSG’s office to congratulate him over his appointment and victory of Governor Matawalle, particularly how he tackled insecurity in the state within his 100 days in office.

“The issue of combating armed banditry, cattle rustling, kidnapping by Governor Matawalle within a short period of time has brought tremendous achievement, both socially and economically to the good people of the state,” Umar Muhammad stated.

He said the practicing journalists in the state will always be factual in their reportage, urging the state government to create an enabling work relationship and conducive environment for working journalists.

” Being a watchdog of the society we shall try as much as we can to ensure our reports are well balanced for fair hearing,” Umar stated.

Responding, the SSG, Alhaji  Maru lauded the support, dedication and maturity by the entire working journalists in the state towards reporting every government activities day- in- day out saying Zamfara state government will always partner with media practitioners to developed the state.
