NULGE president visits Bagudu, urges LG autonomy

National President of Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Comrade Ibrahim Khalid has paid a two day advocacy visit to Kebbi state to solicit the support and cooperation of Governor Atiku Abubakar Bagudu, for local government autonomy.
The president, who paid a courtesy call on the governor, appealed to all governors, religious and leaders and others stakeholders to rally behind the union in the crusade to actaulise the proposed autonomy for the overall development of the grassroots whom the autonomy would benefit most.
He cited example of the current slave trade in Libya, saying “Nigerians are the worst affected because of their poverty level that forced them to travel out in search of greener pastures.”
He appealed to Governor Bagudu to support the move as the National Assembly has earlier indicated interest to support the agitation.
Responding, governor Bagudu said the controversy regarding the local government autonomy would only be resolved by the National Assembly, assured of his readiness to support the move.
The NULGE president had earlier paid similar visit to the state Assembly where he met with the Speaker of the House, Hon. Abdulmuminu Kamba, who assured of legislative efforts that will ensure its realisation.
