NWC postpones APC govs monthly meeting

A monthly consultative meeting‎ of the national leadership of All Progressives Congress (APC) and its governors on the platform of Progressives Governors Forum (PGF) scheduled to hold yesterday was suspended even with arrival of two of the governors.

It was gathered that the meeting was put on hold after the NWC got hint that some of the governors would not attend because of their various grievances against the party leaders.

Specifically, the recent ward congresses held in Kano and Kogi, which ended in controversy, were said to had infuriated the governors against the positions taken by the Chief John Oyegun-led leadership.

For the yesterday meeting, two governors, including Governor of Jigawa state, Alhaji Mohammed Badaru Abubakar and Deputy Governor of Edo state Hon. Philip‎ Shuaibu, had arrived for the meeting before the meeting was announced to have been cancelled.

The meeting should have been the fifth in the series of the monthly meeting of the APC National Working Committee and the governors.

At the beginning of the meeting, which was held in April, the party had stated that it was in preparation for 2019 general elections.

The party had also used the meeting to address issue bothering on financing of the party and its non elective National Convention.

In his reaction, the APC National Publicity Secretary Malam Bolaji Abdullahi, said the meeting could not hold because of another meeting of the governors with the Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo
