Minister of Youth Development, Mr. Boni Haruna, has taken a swipe at the administration of his successor, Governor Murtala Nyako, describing it as “insensitive.”
He said Nyako’s administration had not only concentrated the wealth of the state in the hands of few, but had also destroyed the future of over 70 per cent of Adamawa indigenes.

Haruna, who stated this in an interview with journalists in Yola, accused Nyako’s administration of crippling the education sector by deliberately refusing to pay the WAEC and NECO fees of over 70 per cent of Adamawa indigenes which sent them out of school and destroying their future in addition to dismantling all the strong education foundation he had laid during his time.

“In 1999 we came and met a situation that an average performance is about one per cent and that make us to go back to boarding policy.
We also increased feeding by over 30 per cent and within three years we experienced an improvement and by 2001 Adamawa state was the only state that produced 28 candidates that were admitted to read medicine.

“But what we have today, under the present administration, is a serious decline in the scale of performances especially in education because from 2007, studies have shown that over 70 per cent eligible students of WAEC, NECO and other foundational exams have not been able to sit for this exams due to the administration’s refusal to pay for their fees.
