Nyako, Marwa camps in war of words over defection

As the dust raised by the defection of Gen. Buba Marwa (rtd) from the All Progressives Change (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is yet to settle, a serious altercation has ensued between the camps of Marwa and Governor Murtala Nyako.
Nyako’s Director of Press and Public Affairs, Malam Ahmad Sajo, has accused Marwa of defecting to the PDP following his failure to get money from Nyako as and Atiku Abubakar.

He said: “We are aware that the Marwa group has approached Governor Nyako severally for money and they had equally contacted former Vice President Atiku Abubakar for money as well.”
Sajoh also said Marwa’s defection would not affect the fortunes of the party, stressing that he had no electoral value “leading to his inability to win even his ward when he ran for the governorship of the state under the platform of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) in 2011.”
“For us in Adamawa state, Marwa’s defection is of very little consequence as he has no electoral value; he could not even win his electoral ward during the 2011 governorship contest.”

Sajoh added that Marwa might have been encouraged to defect to the PDP following President Goodluck Jonathan’s assurances that he would ensure that PDP won Adamawa state.
In a swift response, the spokesman for Marwa group, Hon. Musa Bubakari Kamale, dismissed the allegation as frivolous, saying that the real reason behind the defection of Marwa was to entrench impunity, injustice, lack of internal democracy and undemocratic culture being entrenched in the APC.
He said others reasons included “non-dissolution of the illegal task team, non-involvement of caretaker officials in the organisation of the mega rally in the state, operation of caretaker committee as one-man show by Kobis Ari Thimnu and hijacking of registration materials by council chairmen.”
