NYC calls for mutual understanding between Labour, Nasarawa govt

The Nigerian Youth Congress (NYC) Nasarawa state chapter, Wednesday, called on both the labour congress and the Nasarawa state government to resolved their difference for better Nasarawa state.
Chairman of the congress in the state,Mr Kefas Elisha Tiga, made the call during a press briefing in Lafia.

He appealed that both the government and Labour should discuss based on the economic realities on ground and proffer solutions that would ensure the state economy is not left to suffer the lingering strike.

“In this regard however, the relationship that should be existing between labour and government is sometime cordial, while sometime may go bitter due to some changes in government.

“We are quite aware that the Nasarawa state Labour force have been most patient and law-abiding most especially for surviving the various challenges in the past 15 years, which includes their welfare and the payments of their salaries in percentages.
“Also, the erratic settlements of their entitlements and the non-implementation of their periodic promotion, as of rights. We cannot but praise our strong minded workforce for their patience, sacrifice and dedication,” he said.
He therefore, asked for all to remain calm and patient as “We continue to partner with the government, the Nigerian Labour Congress and the security agencies for the progress of Nasarawa state.

The youth chairman said, “The youths must realise that our relevance in the political equation of the state is in our number, and the strength of our number must be demonstrated by our ability to influence the ballot box.”
He therefore, commended governor Abdullahi Sule for his leadership qualities and sense of responsibility in handling the affairs of the state.
