NYC tours Ebonyi, lauds gov’s performance

 Leadership of the Nigerian Youth Congress (NYC) embarked on a three-day working visit to Ebonyi state to inspect various projects embarked upon by Governor David Umahi.

The delegation was led by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Youth and Students Affairs, Hon. Nasir Adhama, who was represented by his Technical Adviser, Dr. Aminu Isyaku, the President and the Chairman of the Governing Board (NYC), Blessing A. Akinlosotu and Dr. Yakubu Shendam respectively.

The statement issued by the NYC media office in Abuja on Tuesday, quoted the NYC President, Comrade Blessing Akinlosotu, as commending the governor for his laudable infrastructural development of the state.

“The Ebonyi State we used to know is gone, here you have birth a new Ebonyi State. The massive infrastructural development we have witnessed here is a big challenge and we hope that the successor of Your Excellency can meet up for the good of Ebonyi State.

“We are requesting your Excellency for just one favour, to host the Nigerian Youth Congress’ National Executives Meeting (NYC, NEM), that we anticipate soon, with the aim to making the Leadership of Nigerian Youths to come and see for themselves the level of development your administration is doing here in Ebonyi”, he said.

Answering questions from journalists during the project’s inspection of the projects, the Chairman of the Governing Board of NYC, Dr Mallam Yakubu Shendam, said Governor Umahi will be crowned “Doyen” of the Nigerian Youth.

 Earlier, the Ebonyi state chapter of NYC was inaugurated at the Excos Chamber of the Governor’s Office, Abakaliki, the state capital.

The Secretary to the Ebonyi state government, Dr. Kenneth Ugbala, who represented the governor appreciated NYC leadership for the laudable initiatives, charged the delegation to do more for the development of the youth of the state and Nigeria at large.
