NYCN thumbs up Buhari on visits to Borno, Lagos

National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has commended President Muhammadu Buhari on his recent visits to Lagos and Maiduguri and the media interviews he granted within the last one week, saying such move gives credence to his administration and shows him as a courageous leader who is tackling the nation’s problems headlong.

The President during the media chat assured Nigerians that he is working hard to ease their sufferings and pain.

NYCN in a statement signed by its President, Solomon Adodo in Abuja described the President’s recent activities as timely and maintained that the visit to Borno in particular will boost the morale of the troops fighting insurgency.

The statement explained that while the Nigerian youths had confidence in the President’s resolve to end insurgency and other forms of insecurity in the country, it was excited about the investment the administration has made and is making in acquiring security hardware.

“The military and security forces have recently acquired fighter jets, bombers and drones as well as other kinds of hardware that have helped in no small measure in the recent successes recorded in the fight against insurgency and banditry.

“In the media interviews granted by Mr. President, Buhari left no one in doubt that he is in charge of the security situation in the country and is doing all within his power to make sure insecurity is a thing of the past. No sitting President will fold his hands and allow insecurity to thrive and President Buhari has demonstrated in active terms that he is not one who will be an exception.

“We are emboldened by the strong language of the President to those fomenting trouble that their end is imminent and that normalcy will return to the country very soon,” the statement said.

The group noted that, following the momentum of military campaigns and the successes recorded in the North-east in recent weeks, it is only befitting that the Commander-in-Chief should visit the theater of operation and commend his loyal troops.
