NYCN wants Senate presidency zoned to North-east

National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has called on the All Progressives Congress (APC) Senators in the ninth Assembly to give the slot of Senate President to the Northeast.

This was contained in a press statement Made available to Blueprint by its
Organising Secretary Adamu Useni Yunusa on Monday.

Yunusa, said North-eastern states of the country have contributed their
quota immensely at the just concluded Presidential and National
Assembly elections.

“Time has come in which we seek the slot of Senate President, because
North-east had never in history enjoyed this gesture. It is on record
too that, Northeast especially Yobe and Borno gave the highest
percentage of votes to APC at the elections.

“We had Presidential aspirant in Peoples Democratic Party PDP who
hails from the Northeast, but we opted for APC therefore there is need
for them to compensate us”, he said.

The statement further said Yobe and Borno have been left behind in
terms of development coupled with the activities of the insurgents,
therefore giving the slot would be of great opportunity to the region.
