NYO seeks National Centre for Youth Devt

A youth group, Nigeria Youths Organisation (NYO), Friday, appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to institutionalise his administration’s quest for youth development by setting up a youth-centred Commission to be called National Centre for Youth Development (NCYD) to “exclusively carter for the interests of the youth.”

The group noted that the Commission, if established, would serve as a platform for the training and development of the youth.

National Vice-president of the group, South-east zone, Mr. Okorie Chukwumaobi, disclosed this when briefing journalists in Abakaliki on Friday.

He advised federal government to establishment of a national centre for youths development as a follow up to the commission which he according to him would serve as the national secretariat of the commission among other functions.

He said, “The national youth development Commission will have the exclusive function of liaising with the presidency and all the necessary stakeholders in the Nigeria project including religious bodies, civil society organisations and non government organisations towards the growth and development of Nigeria youths.

“While the national centre for youths development will not only serve as a meeting ground for the Nigeria youths to have their trainings ,symposiums, conferences, carnivals and other laudable activities geared towards the development of the Nigerian youth, but will also serve as the secretariat for the national youth development commission, when established.

“The establishment of the national youth development commission and national centre for youth development are all geared towards providing a better platform for the Nigerian youth to thrive and prosper for the overall interest of the nation.”
