NYSC debunks report on portal

National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has debunked the publication alleging the launch of a portal for payment of N75, 000 to ex-corps members.

The scheme in a statement yesterday disowned the publication, urging Nigerians to discard it.

Elaborating on the false news during a phone conversation with Blueprint, the Director Press and Public Relations, Mrs. Abosede Aderibegbe, said the story was the handiwork of fraudsters who were bent on defrauding innocent Nigerians.

“The blogs, ‘Safe Job’ and ‘Vanguard News’, cited a purported passage of bill on payment of stipends to ex-corps members by the Senate, and published information claiming that the NYSC director-general had launched a portal for the payment of the said stipends.

“A fake Facebook account, NYSC Online, has also been spreading the content published by the two blogs.

“Management wishes to state that the information is not only false, but also misleading; and should, therefore, be disregarded.

“We further wish to inform our esteemed stakeholders that the so-called “NYSC Online” is NOT the official Facebook page of the National Youth Service Corps,” the statement reads.
