NYSC deploys 1, 781 corps members to Bauchi

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has deployed the first batch of 1,782 members to Bauchi state for one year compulsory national service.

 The state coordinator of the scheme, Mr Afolayan James, said this Friday during the swearing-in ceremony of the 2019 batch A Corps members held at Wailo Camp, Ganjuwa local government area of the state.

 He said the corps members included 1, 001 males and 780 females, saying  series of activities such as  physical drills, skills acquisition, citizenship and leadership trainings were designed to equip them to cope with future challenges.

Also speaking,  Governor Mohammed Abubakar, who was represented by state’s Head of Civil Service, Adamu Umar Gokaru, said NYSC was deliberately designed as a platform for harnessing the huge potentials and ingenuity of youths with a view to making them imbibe necessary qualities for national development.

 He stated that the crucial role of the scheme in advancing meaningful national growth and development is visible through its immeasurable contributions to programmes and projects that have direct bearing on the lives of Nigerians.

 “There is no doubt that these commendable achievements resulted from the outstanding performance of Corps Members who imbibed the ideals of discipline, commitment and selfless service which are all incorporated in the orientation training programme,” he said.
