NYSC DG, officials pay tributes to slain corps member, Owolabi

The Director-General  of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC),  Brig-General Shuaibu Ibrahim,  NYSC FCT Coordinator,  Hajiya Walida Siddique Isah, were among imminent personalities who paid glowing tributes  to late corps member, Precious Owolabi on the occasion of his 22nd posthumous birthday celebration, and book launch in his honor Wednesday  at Radio House, Abuja. 

Precious Owolabi was killed during the Shiite protest in Abuja last year while on  official assignment  for Channels TV where he served. 

Speaking during the posthumous birthday and launching of a book tiltled, “Three Minutes to Midnight” in his memory, the DG described Owolabi as a patriotic young man whose passion for work and excellence is worthy of emulation. He described his death as a rude shock and great loss to the nation. The DG further said Owolabi remains a model for other corps members to emulate. 

Gen.  Ibrahim promised that the NYSC scheme would continue to instill the virtue of hardwork and honesty in corps members.   

In the same vein, the NYSC FCT Coordinator said Owolabi was a goal getter and resilient personality who ensured he made success of any assignment given to him. The coordinator regretted that Owolabi who should have lived and made meaningful contributions to the growth of the society was cut short in his prime. She prayed God to receive his gentle soul. 

 The chairman of the occasion,  Professor Rafindadi in his remark  described the deceased as a young man who died with so much potential but left an indelible mark within the short time he lived. 

The ceremony was attended by eminent Personalities including parents and siblings of the late corps member.
