NYSC in Osun relocates 261 over pregnancy, other ailments

The Director General of National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, Major General Sulaeman Kazaure, has advised corps members to shun unauthorised visit in their respective states.

He frowned at what he described as ‘unpalatable news’ about corps members who are used to leaving their primary place of assignment to visit families and friends without approval of the state Director.

Addressing corps members at the permanent orientation camp of NYSC in Ede, Osun state, Kazaure who was represented by Mr Leke Abiodun, said the scheme will not be happy hearing bad news about the corps members.

He advised the corps to take the skill acquisition serious and ensure that they equip themselves with adequate skill that would be useful for them after their one year training.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Osun state Coordinator, Mr Emmanuel Attah, disclosed 261 corps members have been redeployed to their state out of 2,329 registered for the Batch ‘A’.

He explained that 65 of them are pregnant and nursing mother, while 196 were redeployed for ailments such as tuberculosis, epilepsy and other diseases.

Attah who fumed at the attitudes of the corps members who he said were hiding their ailments because of the fear of being redeployed, assured them that the scheme would not redeployed anybody for diseases that can be managed in the camp.

He advised them to always go to the clinic for any ailments, assuring that the clinic has been equipped to provide adequate treatment for the corps members.
