NYSC swears in 1,988 corps members in Nasarawa

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has screened, registered and sworn in 1,988 Batch B Stream I corps members in Nasarawa state.
Coordinator of NYSC in the state, Mrs. Zainab Isah, made the disclosure yesterday during the swearing in ceremony for the 2017 Batch B Stream I corps members posted to the state, held at the Dan Yamusa orientation camp in Keffi local government area of the state.
She explained that, out of the 1988 corps members posted to the state, 1,001 are males while 987 females, explaining that all have been duly screened and registered for the orientation exercise.
Zainab further explained that the corps members had been in high spirit in the last two days and were participating in camp activities and obeying rules and regulations.
She added that the orientation exercise would expose the corps members to citizenship and leadership training, lectures, language study, paramilitary drills, martial arts, skill acquisition, entrepreneurship training among other activities.
“Each corps member is expected to leave the camp better equipped mentally and intellectually with a great sense of patriotism,” she said.
She appreciated the Nasarawa state government for the security measures put in place to secure the lives of corps members posted to the state as well as make their stay comfortable.
In his speech, the state governor, Umaru Al-Makura, who was represented by state Commissioner of Youth and Sports, Mr. Bamaiyi Anangba, assured the corps members that they will not regret coming to the state as according to him, “residents of the state are hospitable,”
urging them to adapt to the environment so as they could enjoy the hospitality of the state.
