Oba of Benin approves first aid training for palace chiefs

The Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare, has approved a First Aid —emergency services training for some of his chiefs, aides and palace functionaries.

The Nigeria Red Cross Society is to coordinate the exercise, with strict supervision of the palace.

Oba Ewuare ll gave the approval when leaders of the Nigerian Red Cross Society, Edo state branch, paid him a courtesy visit in his palace, in Benin City, Edo state.

The measure, the monarch said, would fast- track the response time by members of the team during emergencies.

He said, “We will like your organization — Nigeria Red Cross society to come and train our people about domestic and emergency services so they do not get stranded during emergencies. If someone at the palace knows about the First Aid approach in times of emergency, it will not be scary.”

The state chairman of the Nigeria Red Cross society, Festus Alenkhe, commended the Oba of Benin for enforcing COVID-19 mandate in his palace.

He also commended the Oba for restoring sanity to land acquisition and property development with enabling laws put in place by the government.

“This palace is COVID-19 prevention compliance. We are pleased with that,” the Red Cross Alekhen said.
