Obi: Labour party chieftain okays Obasanjo’s endorsement

A chieftain of the Labour Party and donor of the three storey edifice housing the Imo state secretariat of the party on the ever busy Whetheral road in Owerri, Dr Libo Agwara, says the endorsement of the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi by former President Olusegun Obasanjo is a good development and a confirmation that he has been his big fan.

According to him, “I was not surprised at the endorsement. He put it clearly, so that everybody can see it. I see it as the next phase of the Peter Obi movement and I will not be surprised if governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC) extraction start endorsing Obi.

“In the North, you see political parties putting their pictures side by side with Obi’s. He’s opening doors for other people. In fact, he is the man for Aso Rock. Former leaders should also follow Obasanjo’s footsteps.”

Speaking further on the endorsement, Dr Agwara said Obasanjo looked basically at Obi’s character, performance, passion to keep Nigeria together, provide honest leadership, vision for the youth and country as a whole and made it clear that there was no basis for comparison between Obi and others.

He also said that the Labour Party presidential candidate had not been investigated by graft agencies like others whose characters and past records were shrouded in controversial circumstances.

Agwara, who made it clear that supporting Peter Obi was his immediate concern rather than political position, urged Nigerians to step up their support for the former Anambra State governor  to ensure that a new Nigeria was delivered, adding that they should  get their Permanent Voter Cards(PVC) to make it happen.
