Ohaneze Ndigbo Youth council (OYC) over the weekend called for peace between Governor Willie Obiano of Anambara state and chairman of Ohaneze Ndigbo, Nnia Nwodo.
The group in a statement released to journalists in Abakaliki by its leader, Okechukwu Isiguzoro, condemned the disclosure of a private discussion by the duo.
Isiguzoro while appreciating the south-east Governors warned against campaign of calumny.
The statement reads in part: “’The leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council led by Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro have waded in the ongoing face-off between Anambra state Governor, Chief Willie Obiano and Nnia Nwodo over the private discussion between them, and we call for seize fire.
“We will resist any act of blackmail in any guise from any quarter to engage in any campaign of calumny against any Governor in the South-east by any leader, and We wonder why any leader will make public a private discussion between them, a public discuss and try to whip sentiments against the other but we are yet to hear from the other side of the story.
The group further apologizes to the stakeholders in southeast over what they term betrayal by the Imeobi.
“Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council worldwide wishes to This medium to apologize to the Southeast Governors especially the Gov Obiano and Umahi,Southeast Federal Minister like Ogbonnaya onu,Gregory Onyema and Chris Ngige, over the betrayal exhibited during the one sided ime obi which endorsed a Presidential Candidate without rectification from the General Assembly of Ohanaeze Ndigbo according to Ohanaeze Constitution,which was done as if there was skeleton in the cupboard of the cabal that hijacked the ime obi, but We wish to remind them that Ohanaeze NEC is deeply divided and majority of the NEC is against The Cabal that hijacked the endorsement of Atiku”. The statement reads.
Isiguzoro further said that OYC would soon identify with the presidential candidate in their next meeting.
“Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council and other igbo stakeholders especially the Pro-Biafra agitators will attend the General assembly of Ohanaeze Youths where we will endorse a popular Presidential Candidate, and chat a new course for Ndigbo”.
