Obinna tasks Uzodinma on democracy dividends

The Archbishop of Owerri Ecclesiastical Province, the Most Rev Dr Anthony Obinna, has urged Imo state governor, Sen. Hope Uzodinma to ensure  that the dividends of democracy delivered by Chief Emeka Ihedioha within seven months in power were sustained for the good of Imo people.

Obinna, who was speaking during a Eucharist Service at the weekend, stated that he had expected Ihedioha in the service only to hear that the Supreme Court had ruled in Uzodinma’s favour, in what he described as an “Ambiguity of  judgment”.

While maintaining that he was not expecting the change of government in the state because things had started moving fine as Ihedioha showed that he was ready to work for the people, he told Uzodinma to sustain the payment of staff salaries and pensions, which was improved upon by Ihedioha, sustain the improvement of institutions and continue the road construction and rehabilitation going on all over the state.

Responding, Governor Uzodinma stated that he decided to run for the 2019 governorship when former the governor, Rochas Okorocha insisted that his son in-law must succeed him, claiming that there was no man in the state. He came in, fought and collected the party’s flag to run for the election and that what he had just done was to collect back his stolen mandate.

He assured that he would deliver the desired dividends of democracy to the people, adding that Imo people needed a man of capacity and that the man in charge at the moment is “Mr. Capacity.”

The Archbishop later prayed God to give Ihedioha the heart to bear what happened and asked God for forgiveness of sins of all.
