Obong varsity gets accreditation for 10 programmes

National University Commission has given full and partial accreditation respecfully to 10 programmes of  Obong University, a private university  located in Obong Ntak community, Etim Ekpo local government area  of Akwa Ibom state.

The University’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Udoudo Ekanemesang, who disclosed this at the pre-convocation press briefing for the 2016/2017, and 2018 combined Convocation ceremony held at the institution Friday, said the NUC has accredited ten out of fifteen academic programmes in the school.

Ekanemesang, said out of the fifteen programes five of them have received full accreditation while five have secured interim accreditation.

He listed the Programmes that have received full accreditation to include Computer Science, Economics, Biochemistry, Micro-biology and Sociology while those on interim accreditation included Political Science, Public administration Religious studies, Peace Studies and Accounting.

He said the University in the pursuit of its programmes would not lose sight of the vision of its founding fathers which is to produce critical and competent graduates for the society.

He said: “Obong University is marching on in step with the vision and mission of its founding fathers to provide holistic educational experience to our young men and women, to produce graduates who would be thought leaders and critical thinkers with commitment to lifelong learning.

“All Programmes at Obong University due for accreditation have received either full or interim accreditation. No programme has been denied accreditation”.
