Nasarawa state Attorney general and Commissioner for Justice, Barrister Innocent Lagi, has said that former Minister of Aviation, Stella Oduah, and Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke, could be prosecuted even after President Goodluck Jonathan “leaves office, if cases of corruption and fraud are established against them.”
Speaking to Blueprint in Lafia, Lagi said cases of corruption had no limit on when to be prosecuted.
He said apart from government agencies, individuals could establish those offences and officers indicted would be liable for prosecution.
According to him, anything done out of appropriated funds by the prescribed institutions becomes an offence.
He said: “Even individuals can establish corrupt cases, let me tell you how it works; let’s look at the budget, the law prescribes for appropriation and any time appropriation is provided for and is not done in that respect it becomes misappropriation and it automatically becomes an offence.”
Lagi added that “no matter how long it takes officers indicted of corrupt practices will not run away from the truth.”
